#YOLO: OFW nurse has found the perfect work-life balance, now rooting for Pinoys to find theirs too because it’s possible

A UK-based Pinoy nurse urges fellow Filipinos to look for a job that values work-life balance to live their best life.

Wherever your career takes you, aim for a better work-life balance—a piece of friendly advice recently passed on by content creator Tito Nurse to his thousands of followers on Facebook.

Tito Nurse, a UK-based Filipino healthcare professional, shared his fortunate experience of finally finding a job that allows him to travel. He currently works 13 days a month without extra shifts and can go on annual leaves without having to justify his need for some quality “me time,” which he uses to explore the world.

“If you called in sick, get rest—no further questions. If you’re not happy with something, they’ll find ways to sort things out. They also personally ask you to take a break when you’re having a burnout—it’s all fine,” he said.

While acknowledging the less-than-ideal conditions in the Philippines, Tito Nurse encourages his 122,000 followers to seek out workplaces that champion work-life balance so that they can live life to the fullest without regrets.

His post earned the nod of his audience, echoing the importance of striking a balance between work and life for better mental health.

One netizen shares, “I’m grateful that the job I had in the Philippines still gave me the work-life balance most employees are looking for. More than enough leaves na inaapprove (some are unpaid especially for long leaves) and I also consider the people that work there may need their leaves too. So to me it’s give and take. And depende din siguro sa line of business na pinagtratrabahuan mo like if as a nurse, mahirap tlga ang nurse sa Pinas. But not all company and work in the Philippines are toxic. Nonetheless, the company I worked for was good to me and I was happy to serve them too.”

“In reality, we should be thankful enough that we have the job that somehow provides our daily needs that others don’t have. Appreciate what you have right now cause other people are struggling to land a job and still fighting fairly. Mapa abroad or in PH, as long as may source of income ka and you’re happy with that, it’s okay,” another quipped.

Another said, “You owe it to yourself and your family to find a workplace that values work-life balance and promotes worker welfare.”
