Korea University, known as one of South Korea’s “sky” private universities, is gearing up to launch a brand-new department tailor-made for international students who eat, sleep, and breathe K-entertainment!
Yep, that means even Pinoys who have dreamed of turning their K-drama marathons and K-pop dance sessions into academic credits can get their chance to enroll!
The so-called Global Entertainment Department, should it push through, would offer courses covering all things K-entertainment, from film and music to webtoons and games, reported Korea JoongAng Daily.
Worried about navigating your way through lectures in Korean? Fear not, because most of the courses will be taught in English, making it a breeze for international students to immerse in the world of Korean entertainment.
And while some hands-on training sessions may be conducted in Korean, consider it an opportunity to level up your language skills.
According to Jung Yoon-hyuk, dean of the university’s School of Media and Communication, the university wants to open an entertainment-related department exclusively for international students “because Korea’s entertainment industry is becoming popular, with international students having a strong preference toward the field.”
The proposal for the new department has been set in motion, with plans tackled during the university’s recent board of directors meeting, said the report.
