Wagi ulit! Pinoy animated film ‘Iti Mapupukaw’ is Best Feature Film at Int’l Animated Film Festival

Filipino animators received a major morale boost after “Iti Mapupukaw” won Best Feature Film at the International Animated Film Festival in Poland.

It may have missed out on an Oscar nod but award-winning Filipino animated film “Iti Mapupukaw” (The Missing) is still not yet done making its mark in the international scene after it bagged the Best Feature Film at the 17th International Animated Film Festival (IAFF) in Poland.

The film, directed by Carl Joseph Papa and produced by Project 8, was the first full-length animated film to win the Balanghai Award at last year’s Cinemalaya Film Festival. Since then, it has reaped accolades in international film festivals for its compelling story and animation style. It was also honored by the Gawad URIAN and FAMAS Awards in the Philippines.

This latest award is also a milestone for Filipino animators since the IAFF is a festival dedicated to showcasing the best animated offerings by global filmmakers, making it a testament to the skills of Filipino artists. “Iti Mapupukaw” was developed using rotoscope technology.
