The last time Intramuros held the title of the World’s Leading Tourist Attraction was in 2020, and it faced an epic showdown the following year, ultimately losing out to Machu Picchu, Peru.

“Come together and lend your support as Intramuros once again competes for the World Travel Awards as the world’s leading tourist attraction,” said the DOT.
The WTA, a prestigious London-based award-giving body founded in 1993, recognizes excellence in travel and tourism on a national, regional, and global scale, across a multitude of categories.
Intramuros has a rich history that dates back to the Spanish colonial era. The city was built in the late 16th century as the power hub of Manila, and its historical structures are like a time machine to the past.
