Veteran broadcaster Henry Omaga Diaza leaves TV Patrol for family—but promises, ‘Babalik ako!’

Veteran broadcaster Henry Omaga Diaz revealed his noble reason for stepping away from his journalism career, while also leaving the door open for a potential comeback.

Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) often leave home for greener pastures abroad, driven by the hope of providing better opportunities for their families. In a plot twist no one saw coming, veteran broadcaster Henry Omaga Diaz is following a similar path.

In an interview with colleague Bernadette Sembrano on her vlog, Henry spilled the real tea behind his sudden exit from ABS-CBN.

“It’s for the family. Para sa pamilya,” he revealed, adding that his family is already in Canada, and now it’s time for him to catch up.

Bidding farewell to his nearly 40-year career at ABS-CBN wasn’t easy for Henry, who’s been the face of countless big events over the years.

“All my life, pag may big event, andun ako e. Automatic yan. Andun ako nagcocover. This time, ang daming events, di ako makakacover dahil paalis na ako. Mahirap alisin sa system ang pagiging journalist e,” he admitted.

The news of his exit shocked his colleagues and fans alike, but Henry reassured everyone it was not a permanent goodbye.

“Pansamantala lang naman ito. Hindi permanent ito. After two years, kung gusto nyo pa ako, babalik ako,” he said.
