Students at the University of the Philippines (UP) can now find job opportunities right on campus, thanks to a new partnership between the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the state university.
The two institutions recently opened a Job Placement Office at Ang Bahay ng Alumni, making it easier for students, alumni, and nearby community members to access employment services.
According to DOLE’s National Capital Region (NCR) office, the initiative aims to bring job opportunities closer to the UP community while reinforcing the university’s commitment to holistic education and professional excellence.
“The initiative is dedicated to bridging opportunities for UP students, its alumni, and the surrounding communities,” said DOLE-NCR.
As a localized Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the UP-JPO offers free services like career coaching, job referrals, placement assistance, and testing. It will also host job fairs, career orientations, and employment coaching sessions, similar to the services provided by local government unit PESOs.
DOLE and UP also plan to replicate this initiative at other UP campuses across the country. “The initiative shall be a pilot project with DOLE and UP Diliman as we intend to replicate the UP-JPO in all other campuses within the Philippines,” said DOLE-NCR.
