Tournament honoring Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes hits the pool scene!

World Nineball Tour to hold inaugural Reyes Cu p, a brand-new international billiards event, in honor of Pinoy pool legend Efren "Bata" Reyes.

You know you’ve made your mark when a building, a street, a hall, or an award is named after you.

In the case of Filipino pool legend, Efren “Bata” Reyes, an international tournament is now named in his honor as the World Nineball Tour (WNT) announced the holding of the inaugural Reyes Cup in Manila on October 17 to 20.

“A brand-new invitational event will see Asia’s finest players take on Team Europe in year one of the event,” said the WNT.

“The inaugural Reyes Cup will be held in Manila, capital of the Philippines, in honor of pool’s greatest player and tournament namesake, Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes,” it added.

Reyes is widely regarded as the sport’s greatest-ever player and serves as an inspiration for millions of pool fans across the globe. In a statement, Reyes said he is honored by the distinction and welcomes the chance to open the country to the best of the best pool players of today. “I am truly humbled and honored that Matchroom has chosen to name this prestigious event after me,” he said. “The Efren Reyes Cup is not just a tournament. It’s a celebration of the sport we love, and I am excited to see the pool community come together for its first edition in the Philippines,” he added. The pool tournament will be using a four-day team format featuring the best cue artists in the world. Qualifications for the Reyes Cup are still ongoing and will occur in three stages over the next months leading up to October.
