This ‘Pusit Queen’ is building an empire ‘Above Sea Level’

From losing their eatery as a child due to poverty, entrepreneur Winna Baldonado is slowly building her fast empire in Tarlac

Entrepreneur Winna Baldonado is “Pusit Queen” from Tarlac carving out her empire and it’s all happening above sea level.

In an interview with broadcaster Julius Babao on his vlog, Winna shared exciting updates about her company, Above Sea Level, as it expands its operations. “We are aiming to be the first seafood fast-food restaurant,” she revealed, highlighting her ambitious plans for the future.

She also disclosed that their processing plant, which includes accommodation villas, is nearing completion. “Tatlong hectares po itong planta pero nakuha na din namin mga katabing lupa para sa aming future expansion,” she added.

They have also recently launched food trucks for potential franchisees, offering diverse placement options. “May mga nakakuha sa amin nilagay sa gas stations, bakanteng lote, sa mga beaches. Meron pa nilagay lang sa harap ng bahay nila. Even sa mga events, pwede siyang dalhin,” said Winna.

But her journey to success wasn’t without challenges. Reflecting on her family’s struggles, including the closure of her grandmother’s small eatery in the market, Winna recalled the financial struggles they endured, particularly after her mother fell ill.

“Mahirap buhay namin noon. Kaya ako naging achiever sa school kasi alam kong hindi ako makakapag aral kung hindi ako valedictorian. Para pag nag high school ako, walang tuition yun,” said Winna.

Despite the obstacles, Winna’s perseverance paid off. With hard work and dedication, she saved enough to open a small kiosk featuring her signature giant butterfly squid, laying the foundation for her thriving business.

Fast forward to today, Winna’s restaurant has become a household name, with franchises popping up nationwide, fulfilling her promise to her grandmother and surpassing all expectations.

“Sabi ko sa lola ko, mag-aaral akong mabuti para pag nagkatrabaho ako, bibili na lang ulit ako ng carinderia mo,” she fondly shared, reflecing on her journey from hardship to triumph.
