While most folks are itching to retire, 101-year-old Jayne Burns is not kicking back and relaxing. She remains dedicated to her job of 25 years at Joann Store in Mason, Ohio, where she’s part-time cutting fabrics.
Despite a touch of arthritis in her hands and knees, Jayne still has the energy of a bull and good eyesight to tackle rolls upon rolls of fabric.
Her secret to reaching this impressive milestone? “You’ve got to keep moving and not sit around the house all day,” Jayne shared in an interview with TODAY.com. “I just like working and I like working with people,” she added.

Remarkably, longevity isn’t a family tradition for Jayne. Her mom passed away in her 40s due to an aneurysm, while her dad only made it to 65. “So I don’t know what it is, but I’m still here,” the centenarian quipped.
But she’s a survivor. She battled colon cancer in 1995, but early detection spared her from chemotherapy and she bounced back.
Her secret to living her best life at 101: she drives, commutes, and enjoys indulgent meals, including butter, meat, and bacon. And her sweet tooth is undeniable, with milk chocolate topping her favorites list.
Jayne’s not one to skip a beauty routine, insisting that moisturizer and makeup are non-negotiable. “I figured I did it all my life, so I’m not going to stop now,” she proudly declared.

To celebrate her 101st birthday, Jayne had a delightful dinner with her two daughters and shared precious moments with her coworkers.
“I really don’t notice that I’m any older…I just can’t get around as much,” she humbly remarked, revealing her boundless optimism that keeps her going strong.
