LA Tenorio’s journey to regain his health reads like a thrilling sports saga, much like the Barangay Ginebra King’s climb to victory in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
And much like the drive for a championship ring, Tenorio said his personal championship overcoming cancer was made special by the incredible people who supported him every step of the way.
In a touching Instagram post, Tenorio poured his gratitude to those who stood by him, whether near or far, during his quest to become cancer-free.
“I hope I can help inspire people through the game of basketball – that life, winning battles, winning championships – are all more meaningful not because of the end goal but because of the journey,” said Tenorio.
“My journey was filled with people I love, people I inspire, people who inspire me, and people who prayed for me. It made every hardship, every little daily win, every nervous waiting game, ever part of the journey more meaningful. It made everything worth it,” he added.
For Tenorio, the unwavering support he received was the fuel that powered him forward, not just to make a comeback on the basketball court but in the grand game of life itself.
“Just like many other cancer patients, there were bad days but all I can be grateful of is God gave me the power to continue my life as a father, provider, son, brother, and friend to everyone around me all throughout the journey,” he said.
“For those who were my prayer warriors, for those who showed me so much love and support… Know that, I am forever grateful to all of you,” added Tenorio.
In a lit announcement last Tuesday, Tenorio proudly declared that he is now cancer-free, transitioning from a Stage 3 colon cancer diagnosis in March to full-on remission.
“My scan and last test results show no trace of cancer and that the treatment was effective. I am now in remission. Praise God!” said Tenorio.
