For 20 years, iconic Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao and his trainer Freddie Roach have been ultimate winning tandem in boxing, conquering eight-division world championships and etching their names in sports history.
Through every grueling training session and championship belt, Manny and Freddie have stood side by side, forging an unbreakable bond of friendship and success.
So, it’s no surprise that the “Pacman” still holds a special place in his heart for his beloved “Coach Roach,” as evidenced by his touching birthday tribute to the legendary trainer.
In his Instagram post, Manny gave an emotional birthday greeting to Freddie.
“Years of victories, decades of friendship. Happy Birthday to my coach, Freddie Roach! Your wisdom and guidance have been my compass. Happy Birthday @freddieroach,” said Manny.
Freddie quickly replied to his former ward’s greeting as he gave equal props to the former Philippine senator. He also looked back at the longevity of their relationship as boxer and trainer.
“Thank you very much, Manny. It’s been a real honor being a part of your legendary career. I think I’ve spent more of my birthdays with you more than any other boxer! Thank you, again, and I will always be here for you, Manny,” said Freddie.
Freddie celebrated his 64th birthday on March 5.
