Taylor Swift is a certified marketing genius! Here’s how she keeps TTPD at the top of the sales chart even months after release

Swifties keep buying different versions of Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department,” keeping it at the top of album sales for months.

Since its release in April, Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department” remains a major hit. Last week, the album sold an additional 84,000 units in the U.S., on top of the millions bought and streamed when it dropped months ago.

According to Forbes, this sales figure is typically how a new release performs and is remarkable for an album that has been out for almost four months. The sales also reflect a spike of 600% from its performance in the previous week (12,000 copies).

With the new sales data, TTPD is back at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales Chart.

Swift often releases new versions of the album, including deluxe editions with live recordings, voice notes, or demos. These updates, often available on her website for a limited time, drive fans to buy multiple versions.

These new purchases help keep TTPD at the top of the Billboard 200, where it has dominated for a fourteenth nonconsecutive week. The album sold 142,000 equivalent units in the last tracking period, with over half being traditional sales.
