After a relatively slow start, Pinay tennis ace Alex Eala rallied to defeat world No. 349 Lu Jia-jing, 6-4, 6-1, and advance to the semifinals of the WTA 125 Jingshan Open in China.
Eala trailed 2-4 in the opening set before recovering to win four straight games. In the second set, she broke away from a 1-1 tie to secure victory in just one hour and 17 minutes.
The victory puts Eala in contention for a second WTA 125 crown, having won in Guadalajara, Mexico two weeks ago.
For the semifinals, she will face off with New Zealand’s Lulu Sun.
