Back in the 80s, the story of Robinsons Galleria’s alleged resident snake became one of the most unforgettable urban legends in the Philippines.
According to the tale, a massive snake supposedly lived beneath the mall, with some even claiming it was the twin brother of Robina Gokongwei, daughter of mall tycoon John Gokongwei.
Fast forward to 2025, and Robina herself decided to have a good laugh about the decades-old humor. Taking to Facebook, she posted a witty Chinese New Year greeting that brought the internet to life.
“Look who finally decided to come out of hiding. My shining, shimmering golden twin (with his pretty in pink girlfriend)! Here’s to a slitheringly good Year of the Snake!,” she captioned with photos of her posing with snake displays inside the Robinsons Galleria Department Store.
The decorations were, of course, in celebration of 2025 being the Year of the Wood Snake. But what stole the show was Robina’s playful nod to the infamous urban legend.
