Angeles City in Pampanga just bolstered its status as a rising star in global food tourism as it bagged the title of “Asia’s Best Emerging Culinary City Destination” in the World Culinary Awards 2024.
Known as the home of the classic Pinoy pulutan sisig, Angeles City bet out culinary heavyweights like Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, Kyoto, and Taipei. The prestigious award was given on October 3 in Dubai.
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco celebrated this feat, commending the city’s dedication to preserving its rich culinary heritage, especially with sisig babi being honored as an “Intangible Cultural Heritage” through an ordinance.

“This prestigious recognition of Angeles City…underscores the exceptional talent, creativity, and dedication of its local chefs and food artisans,” said Frasco in a statement.
“The city’s rich culinary heritage, led by its iconic dishes like sisig, continues to captivate food enthusiasts not only in the Philippines but across the world, showcasing the power of Filipino cuisine on the global stage,” she added.
Aside from the iconic sisig, Angeles City also serves up tokwa’t baboy, bibingka, and other beloved Pinoy dishes that make it the ultimate spot for food lovers everywhere.
