Imagine strolling into a restaurant, choosing your meal from a futuristic touchscreen menu, and voila! A robot chef whips it up for you. Well, I-Robo by Tokyo-based company TechMagic is making this sci-fi dream a reality.
The world’s first cooking robot took the spotlight at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES), leaving foodies and tech enthusiasts buzzing with excitement.
According to a report by Inquirer.net, I-Robo boasts features that promise a seamless experience—from menu selection on a touchscreen to the robot taking charge in the kitchen.
“Our robots are engineered to handle various cooking tasks such as boiling, stir-frying, and frying,” TechMagic founder Yuji Shiraki was quoted as saying.
The cooking robots have already been helping out in kitchens in Japan and have successfully prepared over 100,000 meals in the last half year, he revealed.
In unveiling the robot chef to the world, TechMagic said it aims to revolutionize the culinary scene by addressing kitchen labor shortages.
In a daring move, they experimented with the machine in October 2023, slashing the “labor cost ratio by nine points and improving the profit ratio by nine points.”
