Real talk: British vlogger urges Pinoys to ditch ‘sana ol’ mentality; shares secret to flipping the Ls to Ws

A British vlogger shared his views about how the negative side of Pinoy resilience can be flipped into a positive.

A foreigner living in the Philippines made a not-so-positive observation about Pinoy resilience but the good news is, it’s not a dead end yet and there’s a way to turn things around.

Vlogger Jmyael from 8 Miles from Home points out that Pinoys, who have been through invasions, colonizations, natural disasters, corruption, and other misfortunes, have developed the habit of accepting subpar service as the norm.

“Why do our Filipino friends say that less is acceptable and even pay full price for less? You are a strong resilient people that has endured so much as a nation…These things have created a type of strength and endurance that exhibit every day,” he said.

“You don’t deserve that. The truth is, it’s not fair to you. You deserve more,” he added.

Jmyael also urges Pinoys to ditch the jealousy, stop saying “sana ol,” and start valuing themselves more by not settling for less.

His wisdom extends to supporting local products and businesses. By genuinely rooting for fellow Pinoys and embracing self-worth, Pinoys can claim the level of service they truly deserve—just like any foreigner!
