United States (US) Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson has given her stamp of approval to a unique twist on the classic Pinoy dish, sisig. At the World Food Expo (WOFEX) in Manila, she enjoyed a version made from potatoes instead of the usual pork.
Whipped up by renowned Kapampangan chef Sau del Rosario, the potato sisig caught the ambassador’s attention.
“Sisig made with potatoes? Masarap! Thank you, 🧑🍳 Sau del Rosario for teaching me how to cook this tasty dish made with high-quality U.S. ingredients at this year’s #WOFEX Food Expo!” Ambassador MaryKay shared on X.

Traditionally, sisig is made from pork jowl and ears, pork belly, and chicken liver, but variations like chicken, beef, squid, tuna, bangus, and tofu sisig have become popular.
According to the US Embassy in the Philippines, the American envoy went to the WOFEX to help showcase delicious American food and beverage products.
She also led the launch of the #GalingUSA campaign, promoting high-quality American food products in the Philippines for everyone to enjoy.
