Team Pilipinas will be repping Philippine colors with pride at the 2024 Paris Olympics and they’re doing it in style.
Led by Tokyo silver medalists Carlo Paalam and Nesthy Petecio as the country’s flag bearers, the athletes will parade in a uniquely designed barong by renowned designer Francis Libiran.
In an announcement made by the Philippine Olympics Commission, they said that the pair will be outfitted with a barong that features elements that reflect the culture and heritage of the Philippines.
“Crafted from piña-jusi fabric and featuring a detachable silk organdy sling with embroidered sun rays and Pintados-inspired warrior patterns, this barong symbolizes bravery and national pride. On the detail, every element of the design showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines,” the post revealed.
