Pinoy film ‘Sunshine’ starring Maris Racal continues global festival streak with win in Estonia

“Sunshine” pulled off a double victory as it bagged an international award while enjoying box office success in the Philippines.

Maris Racal’s “Sunshine” has won the Audience Choice Award at the Tartu Love Film Festival (Tartuff) in Estonia, adding to its growing list of international accolades.

The coming-of-age sports drama earlier won the Crystal Bear for Best Short Film at the Berlinale (Berlin International Film Festival), and has also been featured in several other prestigious festivals worldwide, including the Toronto International Film Festival, Pam Springs International Film Festival, Far East Film Festival, Seoul International Film Festival, Taipei Film Festival, and the Austin American Film Festival.

It is also being shown on its third week in Philippine cinemas and earning positive reviews from audiences and critics alike for Maris’ convincing portrayal of a young athlete whose dreams are jeopardized due to an unexpected pregnancy.
