A Filipino cop, who has long been separated from his Korean mother, lived a scene straight out of a Korean drama when he finally reunited with his eomma after 30 years.
Policeman Julius Manalo, separated from his mother since he was just six years old, sought the help of South Korean show “My Mother’s Signal” in a bid to reconnect with her and introduce her to his wife and children.
With the show’s help, they located his mother and uncovered the story behind their long separation. His mother shared that she had always longed to find her son but was left without any way to contact him after they parted.
As for Julius, he never gave up on the hope of finding his eomma. He would often befriend Korean store owners in the Philippines, showing them her photo and asking for their help. Despite his efforts, Korea’s strict data privacy laws stood in the way, making the search seem impossible.
When the emotional reunion finally happened, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room as mother and son embraced, their years of longing finally coming to an end.
It was a happy ending for Julius and his children’s halmeoni, with both sides promising to be part of each other’s lives again.
