Pinoy-blooded Robbie Capito’s win in the UK Open Nine-Ball Championship pays tribute to late dad

While carrying the flag of Hong Kong, Filipino cue artist Robbie Capito has won the first major title of his career

Robbie Capito, a Pinoy born in Hong Kong, just clinched his major title at the 2024 UK Open Nine-Ball Championship, held at the Telford International Centre, United Kingdom.

With a thrilling 13-10 victory over Polish opponent Mieszko Fortunski in the finals, this 22-year-old pool prodigy is officially on fire!

“The Pinoy from Hong Kong is shining under the bright lights of the world stage,” said Matchroom Pool in its Instagram post.

In the interview following his win, Robbie dedicated his victory to his late Filipino father.

“My dad passed away when I was very young. He brought me to this sport and he never saw me get the trophy. So, I just hope he’s proud of me up there,” said Robbie.

Aside from bringing joy and pride, Robbie now gets to take home the US$30,000 (P1.73 million) cash prize.
