In a massive show of purple love for BTS, especially for Suga, who’s been facing serious bullying, Pinoy ARMYs from 50 fan bases from across the country joined forces on Sept. 8 to take a stand against cyberbullying and fake news while championing mental health awareness.
The event, dubbed “Purple Walk of Love: You Never Walk Alone” saw Filo-ARMYs flooding the streets in key cities in the Philippines from Baguio to Cebu and Iloilo to General Santos City and beyond, all decked out in purple pride.
In Makati City alone, around 3,000 ARMYs gathered at Ayala Triangle on Sunday, carrying banners with the powerful message: “Sa dulo ng walang hanggan,” showing their eternal support for BTS.
Purple, the official color of one of the biggest global fandoms in the world, is a symbol of the unbreakable bond between BTS and ARMY that’s held strong for 11 years since the K-pop group’s debut in 2013.
For the fandom, the walk was more than just a fan event—it was a movement against disinformation, fake news, and cyberbullying, especially in response to the harassment of BTS member Suga over his DUI scooter incident, which he immediately admitted and apologized for.
“If Suga, a successful artist celebrated worldwide, can be subjected to these kinds of abuse, what more an ordinary person?” the fandom asked.
Part of the proceeds from the walk’s event kits were donated to Kaibigan Chatline, a mental health support system for young Filipinos. This group, partnered with UNICEF Philippines, provides free counseling sessions on Facebook—just another way Filo-ARMYs are turning their passion into real-world impact.
Since 2018, BTS have been ambassadors for UNICEF, first through the #LoveMyself campaign and now the #OnMyMind initiative, which promotes mental health for every child worldwide.
