Pinay teen racer Bianca Bustamante joins elite squad for Formula E’s 1st-ever all-female test in Spain

Pinay racing sensation Bianca Bustamante has been tapped to participate in the first ever all-female test session for the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

Filipina teen racing sensation Bianca Bustamante continues to break barriers as she revs up her engines as one of the 22 elite women drivers chosen for the first-ever all-female test session in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship happening next month in Valencia, Spain.

The NEOM McLaren Formula E Team made the big reveal on X, announcing Bianca and UK’s Ella Lloyd as part of their squad for the upcoming FIA Formula E Women’s Test.

“I’m glad we can provide Bianca and Ella with a platform to demonstrate their ability and build new career opportunities, as part of the championship’s commitment to develop their experience in motorsport,” said Ian James, Managing Director of the NEOM McLaren Electric Racing Team.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how they get on in Valencia next month,” he added.

This inaugural all-women test session will be a world-first for an FIA Championship, featuring 22 top-tier women drivers, all set to take on the latest GEN3 Evo race car.

A part of the Pre-Season Testing for the 2024/25 Season, the test is also a move to push for diversity and equality in motorsport—a long-term commitment of Formula E.

According to Bianca, she is ecstatic over being given a new and different opportunity to learn in the sport she loves.

“I’m looking forward to getting behind the wheel of a GEN3 Evo car with the NEOM McLaren Formula E Team next month in Valencia,” she said.

“I’ve already been honing my skills in the simulator, and working with the team so I can extract the most from this opportunity as I can. I’m really looking forward to it,” she added.

It was in October 2023 when Bianca joined the McLaren Driver Development programme, paving her way to represent the team in the 2024 F1 Academy season with ART Grand Prix.
