An environmental studies student from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University La Union campus and her team’s disaster resilience project recently took home the Best Idea Award at an international tech camp in Indonesia.
The Community and Technological Camp (CommTech) Program, held at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember in Surabaya, brought together students from across Asia to come up with solutions for real-world problems.
Competing against participants from China, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand, Hannah Jade Nayal and her group stood out with their Resilience Hub Project, a modular system designed to provide power, clean water, communication access, and emergency supplies to disaster-prone areas, announced the school in a news release.
Nayal’s project was recognized for its practicality, sustainability, and strong alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
