Pinay journalist Patricia Evangelista’s gripping book lands her in Tatler’s Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow

Filipino journalist Patricia Evangelista is one of the 35 Filipino trailblazers named in Tatler’s Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow 2024 for her book “Some People Need Killing.”

Journalist Patricia Evangelista’s powerful narrative of the Duterte administration has earned her a spot in Tatler’s prestigious Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow 2024 list.

Tatler praised her for publishing “Some People Need Killing,” one of 2023’s most unforgettable books, detailing the grim reality of Rodrigo Duterte’s six-year presidency and his war on drugs.

“For shining a light where one needs to be shone,” said Tatler in naming her as a Gen.T icon.

“The book was one of the New York Times’ 10 Best Books of 2023, Time’s Top 10 Nonfiction Books for 2023 and one of Barack Obama’s favorite books of the year,” it added.

The book chronicles the harrowing accounts of the thousands of Filipinos killed by extrajudicial death squads and vigilantes during Duterte’s term.

Tatler’s list includes over 200 individuals—including 35 Filipinos—recognized for shaping the future of Asia and beyond. These promising young leaders hail from 20 categories, including The Arts, Finance and Venture Capital, Healthcare and Sciences, and Sustainability.
