Veterinary clinic Biyaya Animal Care didn’t just stop at the nearest neighborhood, they took their mission to remote Pag-asa island in Kalayaan, Palawan to tackle the issue of stray cats and dogs head-on.
In a heroic effort, the team managed to neuter 45 cats and dogs on the island living up to their mission’s motto: “Kapon sa Pagasa, Kapon ang pag-asa.”
“It took longer than expected as we were just a team of four. Plus, we had to catch almost all of the feral cats and seven of the stray dogs while the doctors performed the surgeries,” shared the Biyaya team in a Facebook post.
On top of the spay and neuter services, each furry friend (12 female cats, 10 male cats, 9 female dogs, and 14 male dogs) received full vaccinations and deworming, ensuring their health and well-being for the long haul.
For those not in the know, spaying and neutering pets not only prevent unwanted litters but also curb undesirable behaviors that include biting and health issues like prostatic disease and hernias.
