Mom-ME time! This 52-year-old Ma soaks up the joy of flying solo; spills tea on why she’s embracing her inner wanderlust

This mom reveals why kids should allow their parents to live their best lives in retirement.

Leah Lipa, 52, spent most of her grinding in the mom life, holding it down for three kids, keeping the house spotless, and hustling hard at her job to keep the family fed.

But last year, she had a major glow-up and discovered the joys of “me time.” She’s been ticking off her travel bucket list like a pro, hitting up a crazy nine spots both local and international in just a few months.

First, she solo adventured through Cebu and Bohol, then she took it international in the safest newbie style with a trip to Singapore.

Mommy Leah is trying to catch up for all the lost time for herself and she’s on a roll, realizing that time is slipping away and old age might limit her travel dreams.

“Marami nang hindi ko magawa unlike before nung bata ako. Kaya pinupush ko talaga, kasi hindi ko masabi, baka bukas makalawa, may rayuma na rin ako. Tapos ‘yung hika ko lalong lumala,” she said in an interview with Philippine STAR.

At first, her children were worried about her solo escapades, fearing potential risks. But she put their minds at ease with some safety moves. She uses the “Find My” app on lock for tracking, shares contact deets, and sends them pics of her adventures.

Her first trip abroad gave her the jitters. She confessed she almost cried on day one in Singapore. Navigating the place and its trains was a whole new world. “Pero nakuha naman sa pagtatanong. Since then, nag-start na, sabi ko, ‘Ah, kaya ko naman pala,’” she said.

She’s been living that jet-setter life, hitting up spots like Bali, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. She’s reveling in her newfound freedom and is straight-up hyped for her ultimate dream destination—The Holy Land.

“Yung sarili ko na lang inaasikaso ko kasi all this time talaga, mula nang magkaanak ako, talagang binuhos ko na sa mga anak ko, oras at panahon ko, pati pera. Lahat talaga. Ngayon na nagsosolo-travel ako, talagang looking forward ako, kasi nga feeling ko doon lang ako nagkakaroon ng time for myself,” shes said.
