Though Filipino-American R’Bonney Gabriel won the Miss Universe 2022 title representing the United States, she’s been embracing her Pinoy roots in the most delicious way possible.
In her latest Instagram post, R’Bonney fully immersed herself in a classic boodle fight in Boracay, eating with her bare hands like a true local.
“Everybody else is doing it with gloves. But I washed my hands and I feel like I can’t do it with gloves,” she explained. “I just gotta do it with my bare hands,” she added.
R’Bonney enjoyed a feast of salted duck egg, tortang talong, banana, mangoes, rice, daing na bangus, bagoong, kangkong, and danggit. She literally got her hands dirty, trying out every dish and adding vinegar for that extra kick. “I love it. Oh my goodness,” she gushed.
She capped off her meal with a bite of the every-popular Filipino mangoes. “This is the only way to eat mangoes. I did it. Whoo!” said R’Bonney.
She summed up her experience by saying she feels more Filipino than ever now. “Collecting my Filipino points one by one,” she shared.
