Meow-sive news! PH now a top cat-loving country in Asia

The Philippines ranks second in Asia for cat lovers, according to a study.

It looks like the cuteness and effortless charm of cats have firmly planted their paws in the hearts of Pinoys.

The Philippines has clawed its way to second place in Asia Pacific for cat ownership, reported based on data released by Rakuten Insight.

The study showed that 43% of Pinoy households have cats, just behind Indonesia’s 47%. Thailand is right on the Philippines’ tail with 42%.

This purr-ticular study used an online survey from Rakuten Insight’s panel, interviewing 97,000 respondents from Vietnam, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, India, Hong Kong, and China.

So why are Asians going cat-crazy? The interviews revealed the top three reasons for owning a pet: to feel happier and less stressed (41%), to have some company (36%), and to feel more secure (36%).
