Juliana Gomez has officially earned a spot on the Philippine fencing team for the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games set this December in Thailand, proving that she is indeed, her father’s daughter.
During his youth, her dad Richard, now Leyte 4th District Representative, was also a national fencer. Of course, he was the first to share his baby girl’s successful run to qualify for the national team.
“Today was a very happy day. Three of our athletes from Ormoc City qualified for the Women’s Epee National Team and will be seeing action at the coming Thailand Southeast Asian Games in December. Let’s go team! Alexa, Juliana, and Ivy,” he said.
Juliana later posted her own reflection, expressing gratitude for the journey that led her to the national team.
“What a journey this qualifying season has been. Grateful to be rooted in the support of my coaches, friends, and family. All in God’s perfect time. I’m ready for what’s ahead!” she said, sharing snaps of her emotional moment with her fellow athletes.
