Filipino Sphinx Karate expert lands role in international indie film.

Filipino martial artist from Rizal, Edrew “Dru” Dalandanan Cardano is finally reaping the fruits of his long-term dedication to Sphinx Karate and Qigong by landing a role in an upcoming independent action-drama film in the United States.

As one of the “Karate Masters” of the Sphinx Martial Arts of the Philippines, Dru secured a major role in the independent US movie “The Road to Absolution,” playing the right-hand man of lead actor and writer-director June Daguiso.

In an interview with Traffic Digest, Dru expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to represent his country in a field he is passionate about.

“I’m proud to be chosen for an international film project as a Filipino actor! My role as June Daguiso’s right-hand man involves martial arts scenes and stunts that I coordinated. It’s a dream come true to represent my country on this platform.”

Dru’s journey into acting began in 2007 with Liberation Company, where he participated in drama and romance films. His talent was noticed at the 2010 World Music and Independent Film Festival, leading to his first US-based acting role with MJD Productions. Since then, his acting career has flourished.

After auditioning online in 2022, Dru was selected for the main cast of “The Road to Absolution.”

Apart from his film endeavors, Dru manages Dear’s Cafe in Quezon City and is involved in another film project called “Pagtubos.”

He encourages fellow Filipinos to pursue their dreams regardless of the time it takes.
