True to their goal of championing the Filipino language and culture to the world through their music, the kings of P-Pop also take another role seriously.
Apart from touring the world to perform, Pablo, Josh, Justin, Ken, and Stell have been chosen as the National Center for Culture and Arts (NCCA) Youth Ambassadors and the faces of Sentro Rizal.
Their selection for these roles is no surprise given their strong impact on the youth and their unwavering dedication to uplifting the Filipino spirit, music, and culture as well as the agency’s advocacies.
Most recently, while in the United States for their PAGTATAG tour, they delivered copies of Dr. Jose Rizal’s “Noli Me Tangere” and “El Filibusterismo,” in two translations done by National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario and Diplomat Scholar Leon Ma. Guerrero.
Clad in barong tagalog, the quintet trooped to the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC to present the books. Deputy Chief of Mission Jaime Ramon Ascalon, Jr. received the literary treasures.
They also donated Diksiyonaryong Adarna, a Filipino dictionary encompassing art, culture, and local beliefs of various ethnic groups in the Philippines. The donation aims to benefit second and third-generation Filipino youth seeking to reconnect with their roots and foreign nationals curious about Filipino literary culture.
A’TINs, the fandom of SB 19, expressed their pride at the duality of the group to rock the cultural style as well as the edgy fashion they are associated with when they perform.
