It was in 2014 when Canadian Kyle Jennerman, a proud Canadian, decided to take the leap and embrace the Filipino way of life. He’d been head over heels for Filipino culture and its people for a while, but it was around this time that he decided to rock his new identity as “Kulas.”
For many years, Kulas went on many adventures across the Philippines, showing off the country’s beauty and the warmth of its people. He practically became an adopted son of the country, finding his second family in Cagayan de Oro.
Even before he became an official Filipino, netizens were already cheering for him, praising his insane Filipino pride.
Pinoys had his back throughout the journey. Rocking his signature headband, they watched him, along with his best bud Kumar and his girlfriend Therine, go on a wild ride meeting interesting people, trying out many delicacies, and blending his culture with that of signature Filipino trademarks.
With his positive content, Pinoys agreed that Kyle, aka Kulas, deserved to be a true blue Pinoy.
Finally, the unofficial adoption became official. Kyle’s “Becoming Filipino” journey finally reached its climax as he made his Oath of Allegiance to the Republic of the Philippines on September 13.
Just a little flashback: Biñan Congresswoman Marlyn “Len” Alonte authored the first bill for the vlogger’s naturalization, and the whole process came full circle when she administered the oath to the Canadian, now-Filipino citizen.
On this milestone event, he was supported by the people closest to him. Even Canadian Ambassador David Hartman was present to remind him of the importance of staying connected to both his adopted country and his Canadian roots.
