I Care for Strays! NLEX launches advocacy project to prevent accidents involving strays

Through a thorough campaign on preventing accidents involving stray animals, NLEX launched a massive advocacy and education campaign in partnership with the local government.

Ever swerved to avoid a stray animal on the road? The North Luzon Expressway Corporation (NLEX) feels your pain and is doing something about it with its “I Care for Strays” program.

As part of NLEX’s Mission Road Safety campaign, the program was recently launched in Barangay Patubig, Marilao, Bulacan. It’s a collaborative effort with the Bulacan provincial government, Marilao Municipality, and animal welfare advocates, reported The Philippine Star.

At the launch, pet owners from Marilao and nearby areas received a crash course on animal welfare laws, responsible pet ownership, and stray animal management. Over 300 cats and dogs also got free spaying, neutering, deworming, and anti-rabies shots.

“I Care for Strays promotes animal welfare and enhances safety for motorists and communities,” Donna Marcelo, NLEX’s VP for communication and stakeholder management, explained about the program.

The “I Care for Strays” program is part of NLEX’s broader commitment to road safety, complementing initiatives like the Kaligtasan Sa Daan (KalSaDa) program. These campaigns educate residents on responsible road usage, safety tips, and maintaining a secure environment for all.
