When it comes to travel, it’s easy to think of planes, buses, or even fueling up for a long road trip. But there’s a different way to explore your city that involves none of those.
Instead of hopping on those usual modes of transpo, why not consider the Light Rail Transit, and yes, even going on foot?
The Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) has teamed up with the Renacimiento Manila walking tour organization to bring you the LRT-1 Heritage Transit Tour.”
“[It] seeks to promote urban tourism by riding LRT-1 and exploring important historical spots near LRT-1 stations,” explained Jacqueline Gorospe, Head of Corporate Communications and Customer Relations at LRMC.
LRT-1 recently launched the LRT-1 HERITAGE TRANSIT TOUR in partnership with Renacimiento Manila.

But it’s not just any regular city tour. It’s a chance to dive deep into Manila’s rich cultural heritage, all while riding one of its most vital mass transit systems.
The tour starts at the Central Station and takes you on a journey through history. You’ll hop on the train to visit Calle Vito Cruz landmarks, rediscover the old downtown area of Manila at Carriedo Station, and appreciate the historic Luneta Park and National Museum views at the United Nations Station.
As you explore, you’ll learn about the history of LRT-1 and the significance of different stations as gateways to other cities.
“We recognize that tourism is inevitably linked to transport. LRT-1 holds a special place in the daily lives of our commuters, as well as in our country’s rich history,” said Gorospe.
“LRT-1 is uniquely positioned to highlight the vital role of public transport in encouraging more people to explore the city and discover the stories that have shaped it through the years,” she added.
The LRT-1 Heritage Transit Tour is currently in its pilot run, with scheduled paid tours available for the general public on November 19 (Sunday), November 25 (Saturday), and December 10 (Saturday) for a fee of only Php500.
