Okada Foundation Inc. (OFI) has launched an empowering initiative that not only feeds families but also nourishes their community and livelihoods.
Under its Food Share Program, a collaboration with Kabisig ng Kalahi (KnK), 30 households from Barangay Marcelo Green in Parañaque City will be provided with 10 kilos of rice every month. In exchange, participants pledge their commitment to nurture the community garden—a small act with a big impact.
“The Okada Foundation believes that food security is a fundamental human right and that nutritious, healthy food must be easily accessible,” said Okada Foundation, Inc. President James Lorenzana in a statement.
“The only thing we ask for in return is your support and stewardship for the community garden that our Food Share Program will establish,” he added.
This initiative is just one facet of OFI’s substantial Php25-million pledge as a partner of KnK in addressing critical issues like food security and healthcare for marginalized Filipinos.
“The Kabisig ng Kalahi has 20 years of experience in putting together these types of projects, and there would be no better partner for us to work with,” Lorenzana said, noting that Parañaque City serves as an ideal launchpad for the program, reflecting Okada Manila’s dedication to its local community.
“And what we started here with you will eventually grow and branch out to more communities that need our help,” he added.
