The appeal of farm work might be waning for many, but Jomary Nuqui’s inspiring story could reignite that spark.
At just 22, he found a lucrative niche in goat farming, turning it into a thriving business in Concepcion, Tarlac. He said goat farming can yield over Php30,000 in monthly earnings, making it a compelling alternative to traditional jobs.
“Sa kambing, pwede po natin silang pakainin ng concentrate o ‘yung feeds pero kahit damo lang po mabubuhay ang ating mga alagang kambing. So, less gastos sila,” Jomary said in an interview with GMA Regional TV.
Before venturing into goat farming in 2020, amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jomary experimented with various jobs. It was his income as a part-time photographer that provided seed money for his goat-raising enterprise.
The Php11,500 earnings from his side hustle allowed him to invest in three goats. Today, Jomary tends to over 60 goats, proof that goat farming is as rewarding as any business enterprise.
While tending to his growing farm, Jomary is also arming himself with new skills to boost his business by pursuing a degree in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science.
