Get ready for Nutribun 2.0! San Miguel Foods, DOST-FNRI team up to supercharge ready-to-eat breads

San Miguel Foods and the Department of Science and Technology are working together to nail down the perfect nutrient formula for each Nutribun used in school feeding programs.

San Miguel Foods is teaming up with the Food and Nutrition Research and Institute (FNRI) of the Department of Science and Technology to whip up the ultimate Nutribun recipe for the government’s school feeding programs.

This partnership, sealed with a memorandum of agreement, will cover crafting custom premixes that will be used by the government’s Nutribun producers, making sure that children beneficiaries get the full benefits from every bite of the nutrition-packed bread.

San Miguel Mills Inc., the flour milling arm of San Miguel Foods, will bankroll FNRI’s research to nail down the perfect nutrient combo for each Nutribun serving.

Meanwhile, the company’s supply chain and logistical resources will be mobilized to boost the distribution of Nutribun nationwide.

“This partnership will combine the research and development being done by DOST-FNRI, and the technical know-how and production capabilities of San Miguel Foods. Ultimately, this will benefit many children, especially those in disadvantaged communities who do not get enough proper nutrition,” said SMC president Ramon Ang in a statement.
