Eraserheads’ iconic frontman, Ely Buendia, recently hit pause on his hectic schedule to revisit the roots of their legendary OPM journey.
Teaming up with former roommate and ride buddy Chappy Umali, Ely made a pilgrimage to their alma mater, the University of the Philippines (UP), where the band started performing.
“A trip down memory lane,” declared Ely, sharing glimpses of the adventure on his Instagram.
The snapshots also revealed Ely retracing his steps through Molave and Kalayaan dorms, exploring the lobby, parking lot, mess hall, corridors, and entrance steps of UP.
Of course, no visit to the UP campus would be complete without a stop at the equally legendary “Mang Larry’s Isawan.” Ely made sure to savor the nostalgia tied to this iconic spot.
Fun fact: UP Diliman was the breeding ground for Eraserheads, with Ely, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro coming together with a shared goal—to perform at the steps of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, a.k.a. Palma Hall.
