The Food and Drug Administration is making treatments for cancer, diabetes, and mental health conditions more accessible and lighter on the wallet for Filipino patients.
For cancer patients, the newly added medicines include Degarelix, a freeze-dried powder for injection, and Tremelimumab, a concentrate for infusion. These treatments are vital for those undergoing complex cancer therapies, reported the Philippine News Agency.
Diabetes patients, meanwhile, can benefit from the inclusion of Sitagliptin and its variations, such as combinations with Metformin Hydrochloride, as well as Linagliptin. These medicines are essential for managing blood sugar levels and preventing complications.
The list also now includes medicines for mental health conditions, like Clomipramine Hydrochloride, often used for depression and anxiety, and Chlorpromazine, a treatment for psychotic disorders.
