Doing business with family is usually a big no-no, stirring up all kinds of drama and tension.
But for actor Donny Pangilinan, having his folks around at work is like having a built-in system he can always count on. His dad, Anthony, and mom, Maricel, tag team as his co-managers, ensuring he’s got a squad he can truly trust.
“I’m happy because, at the end of the day, I have people who love me talaga. Hindi yung ginagawa lang for this or that reason,” said Donny in an interview with Bernadette Sembrano on her vlog.
Still, he confessed to the occasional clash with his parents over work matters. “Palagi kami nagaaway niyan. Me and mom rarely fight. Dad kasi ang Coach Kurt ng buhay namin lahat e. It’s from the heart. So sometimes we clash because I’m also strong with my views,” related Donny.
So, how do they keep the peace in the family biz?
Donny and Anthony swear by the little things that make all the difference. Meron kaming viber groups, pang career at pang personal,” shared Anthony.
“Me, mom, and dad, Career with Donny. Me, mom, and dad, Parents with Donny. Same people lang pero iba yung name,” chimed in Donny.
The “Can’t Buy Me Love” actor revealed that these small gestures play a significant role in maintaining a healthy relationship.
The actor explained that having such simple acts can actually make a significant difference in having a good relationship.
“Sometimes, it can get to a point na nawawala din ang line ng manager at father. Di mo alam yung fine line na yun e. But we try our best na ilinya,” said Donny. “Para lang may boundary,” Anthony said in agreement.
With Donny’s career skyrocketing, it appears that their family is doing good business.
