Disney’s ‘How Far I’ll Go’ is Janella Salvador’s anthem of motherhood

Actress-singer Janella Salvador sang an OST for Disney's Moana and it eventually became her life's theme song as a single mom.

In 2016, actress-singer Janella Salvador was Disney’s chosen one to belt out songs for the movie “Moana” for the Philippines.

Who would have thought that seven years later, “How Far I’ll Go” would become the anthem of her life now that she’s navigating the journey of single motherhood?

“Lagi kong sagot dun ay ‘How Far I’ll Go’. Kinanta ko yun tapos bagay siya sa life ko. How far can I go?” the 25-year old mom said in a heart-to-heart with broadcaster Karen Davila on her vlog.

In particular, she spilled the tea on wanting to level up her career, which took a pause after she welcomed her son, Jude, with ex-partner, actor Markus Paterson.

Aside from cooking up some fresh tunes, with a solo concert topping her hit list as a singer, she’s also raring to conquer the silver screen again, starting with her latest film, “Mallari,” where she shares the screen with the swoon-worthy Piolo Pascual.

With all these plans on the table, Janella said her main purpose is to be able to adequately support Jude as a solo parent.

“Si Jude magschool na next… Kaya madami (plans),” said Janella.
