Take for instance, Ran Olivares, a factory worker in Taiwan, and his Pinoy crew who found a genius way to save on the cost of food after discovering a literal treasure trove in their backyard—a river teeming with fish and crabs, just begging to be caught.
According to Ran, who hails from a family of skilled fishermen, this river is a seafood paradise because it’s clean, making it a fish-catching haven. With a day’s haul, he and his buddies can feed 100 co-workers in the factory, helping them save on groceries.
He said they also lucked out because their neighborhood is full of vegetarians, which means there’s less competition for the river’s endless bounties.

Another blessing for Ran’s group is that Taiwan allows fishing in the rivers, except in some restricted areas that are deemed unsafe.
