In the 80s, Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano were the ultimate rivals, both reigning as exceptional Filipino singers and concert kings. As the years passed, these two have traded competition for camaraderie, becoming close friends who celebrate each other’s success.
As Martin gears up to celebrate his 42nd anniversary in the music industry, Gary couldn’t help but shower him with praise.
“In the decade I came into the music industry, @martinnievera took the courageous steps of raising the standard of live concerts. That’s why he forever will be known as the ‘Concert King’,” he said.
On a more personal note, Gary shared how pivotal Martin has been in his life. “This man taught me how to always be at my best. And when things would get tough for me, he was always there for me both on and off stage,” he said.
Gary’s message of love and support came just in time for Martin’s concert at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City last September 27, where Gary was right there in the front row soaking it all in.
