Chinese fishing vessel’s rescue of Pinoy fisherman stirs hope in disputed waters

Proving that unity can triumph even in disputed waters, a heartwarming rescue unfolded when a Chinese fishing vessel came to the aid of a Filipino fisherman stranded for eight days since his fishing boat sank near the Rizal Reef in the West Philippine Sea.

Setting sail on December 20, Palawan native Baron Cayon faced treacherous waters that led to the unfortunate sinking of his boat.

Crafting an improvised raft, he navigated through the challenges, surviving on dried fish for the initial days before depleting his food supply. “Nataranta ako. Pero nung medyo kumalma na ang isip ko, dun na ako gumawa ng paraan maka survive,” said Baron.

In a video shared by Radyo Pilipinas on social media, the rescue unfolded on December 31, highlighting the unexpected cooperation between the nations.

The Chinese fishing vessel quickly responded, ensuring Baron’s safety and bringing him back to solid ground. “Salamat po sa lahat ng nagdasal na mailigtas ako,” expressed Baron, extending his gratitude to those who prayed for his rescue.
