‘Champion na anak mo’: Meralco Bolts’ Bong Quinto dedicates victory to late father

Meralco Bolts forward Bong Quinto posted a heartwarming "Father's Day" message to his late dad, dedicating his first PBA championship to him.

Meralco Bolts forward Bong Quinto won his first Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) championship when his team defeated the powerhouse San Miguel Beermen in the 2024 PBA Philippine Cup Finals.

This victory was especially meaningful for Bong, who dedicated the win to his late father, Danilo, who passed away in January 2020.

Bong took to Facebook to share his heartfelt tribute to his father, wishing him a belated “Happy Father’s Day” and offering his first championship title in his honor.

“Happy Father’s Day Papa. Champion na anak mo. Salamat sa suporta mo sa akin. Nag bunga lahat ng panalangin mo para sa akin,” said Bong.

“Mahal kita Papa. Para sayo tong Championship na to. Alam kong proud ka sa akin,” he added.

Bong also lightened up the moment by joking about his widow mom, Jocelyn finding new love. “Pahinga ka lang dyan. Ako na bahala kay Mama Jocelyn. Makakahanap din sya ng mapapangasawa nya. Hahahahahaha! I miss you Papa,” he added.
