It’s pretty common for Pinoy athletes who hit the big time to enter the world of showbiz or sometimes politics. But don’t expect to see two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo following in their footsteps.
In a recent interview with TV host Luis Manzano on his vlog “Luis Listens,” Caloy made it crystal clear: he has zero interest in the glitz and glam of the entertainment industry.
“Hindi po talaga. Hindi ako marunong umarte,” said Caloy when asked if he is considering entering showbiz. “Hindi ko nakikita sarili ko sa showbiz,” the champion gymnast added.
Instead, Caloy would be sticking with the sport that brought him fame and honor for the Philippines, and his goal is to help build the future of gymnastics and share his elite-level knowledge with the enxt generation.
“Gusto ko related sa sports, makatulong sa community ng gymnastics. Yun gusto ko,” he said. “(Gusto ko) mashare ko yung knowledge ko at experience sa high level, ganito ka elite level (na competition)… na mashare ko siya sa kabataan. Hopefully, makarating din sila sa ganitong level,” he added.
Carlos Yulo is the 2024 Olympic gold medalist in the floor exercise and vault events.
