Cancel the Slipper: Why Positive Parenting is the new cool

Digital creator Inka Magnaye shares how getting positive parenting helped mold the way she handles conflicts, online bashing.

Kneeling on monggo beans? Squatting for an hour? Slipper or belt spanking? Maybe it’s just about time to cancel these old-school punishments, especially if one’s trying to parent like it’s 1899.

There’s a new wave called Positive Parenting, and it’s all about showing your kiddos some love, warmth, and kindness to teach them life lessons.

Digital creator Inka Magnaye is all about that positive life, revealing how her parents never laid a hand on her or her siblings, and they turned out A-OK.

“My parents taught us that you need to use your words to make the other person understand because violence is not the answer,” she added.

And the result? The girl’s got mad patience, tolerance, and chill vibes, even when she’s dealing with online haters and other conflicts in life.

“Yung effect nun is, pag galit kami, marunong kami makipag usap. Even now, so many people say na they like how I respond to bashers and haters kasi I really know what to say daw,” she said.

“That’s because my parents didn’t teach me na pag [galit], dapat hampasin. So now, even when I’m upset, I can find the words to say,” added Magnaye.

So, the next time your mini-me needs a lesson, it might be good to just try to have a heart-to-heart instead. That’s the Positive Parenting move!
