BINI Sheena finds new strength in the face of loss and success

Devastated by her mother’s death, BINI member Sheena Catacutan has found a new reason to persevere and keep going.

Unknown to many, singer-dancer Sheena Mae Catacutan has faced numerous struggles on her path to success with the emerging P-pop girl group, BINI.

Before the group’s meteoric rise, BINI Sheena found unwavering support and encouragement from her mother, especially during her auditions for the Star hunt Academy of ABS-CBN.

“Kaya ako pumasok kasi suportado ako ng nanay ko. Siya nagpush sa akin na ituloy ang pag audition kahit ayoko naman,” BINI Sheena revealed during the group’s interview with broadcaster Karen Davila on her vlog.

She experienced a devastating loss when her mother passed away in 2020, amid her training days and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Kalagitnaan ng training, namatay si Mama. Nung nawala siya, parang ano pa sense andito ako,” said BINI Sheena.

Instead of succumbing to despair, Sheena found strength in her newfound responsibilities as the breadwinner for her brother and grandmother.

“I have my lola and my brother. Kaming 3 na lang po. Ako ang breadwinner. Ang lola ko matanda na din at umaasa na lang sa pensions. Ako na lang po yung kakayod,” disclosed the BINI member.

Today, BINI stands as one of the fastest-rising stars in Philippine entertainment, captivating audiences with their catchy tunes and cutesy choreography.
